India’s biggest trade in South Asia is with Bangladesh, and thus it comes under the ”Neighbourhood First Policy.”

On Tuesday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan following her meeting with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar. She was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan where they shook hands and posed for a photograph.
Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina interacted with reporters as she said both countries have to come together to improve economic and social issues like education and poverty alleviation. Highlighting India’s contribution in the Bangladesh Liberation War, Hasina said that it is always a pleasure for her to visit India. “India is our friend. Whenever I come to India, it’s a pleasure for me, especially because we always recall the contribution India made during our liberation war. We have a friendly relationship; we are cooperating with each other, “Hasina said.
“Our main focus is to develop our people’s federation, poverty alleviation, and economy. With all these issues, I feel our two countries should work together so that people not only in India and Bangladesh but across South Asia can get better lives. That’s our main focus, “she added.
Hoping for a “very fruitful discussion” during her four-day state visit, Hasina said that the main aim is to “develop economically and also fulfil the basic needs of our people”.
“With friendship, you can solve any problem. So, we always do that, “she said.
On Monday, on her first day, Hasina visited Dargah Nizamuddin Aulia hours after her arrival in New Delhi. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on the Bangladeshi prime minister.

On the arrival of Shri Sheikh Hasina, the Indian army, the Indian navy, and the Indian airforce were present to welcome the Prime minister.
More than 50 rivers are common in India and Bangladesh.
India and Bangladesh share 7 Documents (MOU) to show shining bilateral cooperation.
1- Mou, between Jal Sakti, government of India and the Ministry of Water Resources, government of Bangladesh.
2- Mou, between the Ministry of Railways, Government of India and the Ministry of Railways, Bangladesh. Bangladesh Railways personnel will be trained by the Indian Railways training institutes.
3- Another MoU was signed between both departments, under which they will collaborate to provide IT solutions to Bangladesh Railways.
4- An MoU signed between Bangladesh Television and Prasar Bharati.
5- A MoU signed between both countries to promote cooperation in space technology and scientific and research collaboration.
6- An MoU was signed between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India and the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) on scientific cooperation.
7- An MoU was signed between the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and the Bangladesh Supreme Court to promote capacity building.
