Delhi is likely to witness more rains in the next couple of days. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow alert and has also cautioned the citizens about the same. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall was issued for Thursday also, alerting the citizens to be prepared for the next two-three days. The heavy downpour resulted in waterlogging, and tree uprooting at many places in Delhi and the National Capital Region leading to massive traffic jams.
With Delhi experiencing an unusual change in weather with heavy rains battering the city during September-end, scientists have found out the reason behind the unexpected rainfall. The rain is lashing the national capital due to two different weather systems converging at the same time in this region- a low-pressure area with a cyclonic circulation and a western disturbance.
The two different weather systems have also delayed the withdrawal of the monsoon, scheduled for September 25.
Delhi and its neighbouring areas- Noida, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad will also experience light to moderate rain for the next two to three days, said the weather department.
The temperature in Delhi has been dropping after the city experienced light rainfall for the past few days.
